On the subject of Yin and Yang we should understand how our posture effect our ability to have a balanced flow of Yin and Yang energy and how this either speeds aging or keeps you young.

First you must understand that Yang energy runs up and down your back while Yin energy runs up and down your front. When we are young we have much Yang energy.

As a result we stand straight because the Yang energy holds us straight like a rubber band. As we get older the Yang energy loosens and we begin to bend forward. If we do not correct this than we will look and feel older very rapidly after age 40.

We must fight to balance the Yin and Yang energy. The best way to do this is to do the walk and be aware of your posture. Keep the shoulders level and relaxed. The spine straight and hips slightly forward. You should have a straight line from your lower “butt” to the top of your head. You will feel the flow of energy travel up your spine and down your front. As you do this you will have a sense of strength and it will show in slower aging and stronger appearance.

You may wonder why some Chinese people look much younger than their western counterparts. It is because of these types of practice and understanding of the role Yin and Yang play in having a natural energy flow.

Remember. Shoulders level and relaxed. Open your chest by  tucking your chin in and bringing your chest up and full of air. Posture straight. Hips slightly forward. It should look and feel relaxed and powerful at the same time
